Indian, Nigerian & Vietnamese Students Expected to Study Abroad

A new report suggests that due the recent economic slowdown in China, students from Vietnam, Nigeria and India will likely drive international student growth in the coming years. Furthermore, countries with unwelcoming policies toward immigrants are expected to witness stagnant or declining levels of overseas students at their doors.

Canada Adds Pakistan to Its Expedited Student Visa Program

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada recently added Pakistan to their Student Direct Stream (SDS) initiative. The program aims to streamline the visa application process for students from specific countries. Other SDS eligible nations are India, China, Vietnam and the Philippines. The Government of Canada claims that through the SDS, student visas can be processed in less than three weeks.

As of the end of 2018, Canada is currently the third-leading host of international students. Furthermore, Vietnam is officially the fifth highest source country for international students in Canada. This groups them with India, China, South Korea and France.

The Canadian government recognises the need for highly skilled and well-educated immigrants and recent changes to its immigration policy are attracting students not only from Vietnam but all over the world.
